Quick overview:

  • Access included: Your entry tickets include access to the entire zoo and its five unique habitats. The upgrade also gets you the set menu at the cafe on-site.
  • Main highlights: The zoo is home to unique species like the Papuan hornbill, the Nile crocodile, the Komodo dragon, and the giant Amazonian otter, among over 200 in total.
  • Visit length: Most guests spend 3 to 4 hours, or sometimes longer if they’re visiting with children or plan on dining at the zoo.
  • Best timing: Arrive as soon as the park opens at 10am. This is when the weather is at its coolest, and the animals are more active as a result. As the day gets warmer, the animals retreat to more shaded areas, limiting the possibility of a clear sighting.
  • Queues: Purchasing tickets online lets you skip the queue for tickets at the venue, but you will still need to go through the security checks.
  • Best upgrade: Choose entry tickets that get you access to the daily menu at the BIOPARC Café, which includes set menus, combination plates, pizzas, hamburgers, and more.
  • Good to know: The park is compact, so it suits half-day Costa del Sol itineraries. Additionally, if you’re going to be at the park at around lunch time, you should choose the ticket with the daily menu - if you leave the park to grab a bite elsewhere, you will need to purchase a new ticket to re-enter.

Step into a tropical world

Enter through a leafy urban oasis where winding paths, waterfalls, and dense planting quickly seclude you from Malaga’s bustling streets and urban life. This immersion-style zoo created an environment that lets you explore all the species in carefully curated replicas of their very own natural habitats out in the wild.

First reveal: The island of Madagascar

Lemurs leap, lounge, and socialise in the iconic baobab tree, in one of the park’s most playful areas. And when we lemurs, we don't just mean one or two species, but over a hundred species and subspecies of this animal. It is often the first zone children connect with instantly.

Step into Equatorial Africa

Equatorial Africa changes the scenery entirely. Whether you look to the treetops, the ground, or the water, you’ll find endless species of flora and fauna. You’ll encounter primates like the Western lowland gorilla, the massive Nile crocodile, the royal pythons, and meerkats, among a host of other species.

Hop across the (figurative) ocean to Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia is home to some of the world’s most majestic species. Be it the Sumatran Tiger carefully hidden in the grass, or the reptiles taking refuge within the cold crevices of the abandoned mine, this habitat is a treasure trove of wildlife.

Discover the Indo-Pacific’s reptile

The Indo-Pacific is one of the zoo’s most striking environments, combining temple ruins, a dragon interpretative center, and a reptile-centric narrative. This is where you’ll find the world’s largest reptile, the Komodo dragon, besides a host of other species such as pythons, tortoises, monitor lizards, and several others.

Learn as you explore

Interpretive signage throughout the park explains endangered species, habitats, and conservation efforts without slowing the visit down.

Dine at BIOPARC Café

Set in the midst of this unforgettable tropical environment is BIOPARC Café, a restaurant where you can grab a bite and a refreshment or two without having to step outside the zoo. With set menus and a variety of other dishes, you’ll find options that cater to every possible taste.

Things to know before booking your tickets to Bioparc Fuengirola

Booking window

  • Bioparc Fuengirola is especially busy on weekends, public holidays, Easter, and during the summer school break. The major peak season is between June and August.
  • Tickets are sold on site, but can be hard to get during the peak season. During this period, booking at least 5-7 days in advance is recommended.

Modes of entry

  • The park has one primary entrance, where you’ll either need to purchase your tickets on the day of your visit or show your pre-booked e-ticket.
  • While pre-booking lets you skip the line for people booking on-site, you will still need to pass through the mandatory bag screening.

What’s included

  • The entry ticket includes access to all four habitats that include over 200 species.
  • Booking a ticket with access to the daily menu lets you grab a bite at BIOPARC Café without having to pay any extra amount.
  • Services such as parking lockers, and so on, are not included in the ticket price.

Ways to explore

  • Most guests visit on a self-guided basis, which suits the park’s compact layout.
  • If you simply want to skim through the key highlights at all four habitats, setting aside three hours is more than enough.
  • However, if you’re visiting with family and kids, you’ll likely take more breaks, which could extend your visit duration to about 4-5 hours.

Restrictions & policies

  • You’re not allowed to re-enter the park with the same ticket. If you leave the park for any reason, you will need to purchase a new ticket, unless the ticket office grants you permission to do so in exceptional circumstances.
  • Feeding the animals, flash photography, knocking on glass enclosures, smoking, and the use of bicycles or skateboards are strictly prohibited inside the park.
  • Minors under 16 years must always be accompanied by an adult.
  • Lastly, for those bound to a wheelchair, the park is entirely accessible. Keep in mind that arriving closer to the park’s opening time at 10am makes navigating easier, as the crowds are generally thin.

Visiting Bioparc Fuengirola with kids? Here’s everything you need to know

Kid-friendly features include:

  • Wide stroller-friendly pathways

  • Restrooms and baby-changing facilities
  • Animal zones with strong visual appeal for younger children

  • A realistic half-day duration that suits family schedules

Plan your visit to Bioparc Fuengirola

Insider tips to make your visit to Bioparc Fuengirola memorable

  • Arrive close to opening time: The park opens daily at 10am, and the first two hours are usually the calmest, with cooler temperatures and animals often more active than later in the day.
  • Start with Madagascar and primates first: Lemurs, gorillas, and orangutans are among the most popular residents, so visiting these habitats early gives you clearer views before pathways get busier.
  • Revisit habitats later in the day: Animal behaviour changes throughout the day. A tiger or gorilla resting in the morning may be active later, so looping back often rewards patient visitors.
  • Use the park’s compact layout to slow down: Bioparc Fuengirola is not huge, which means you do not need to rush. Spend extra time observing animal interactions instead of trying to “tick off” every zone quickly.
  • Plan lunch slightly before peak time: Eat before 1pm or after 2:30pm to avoid the busiest café queues and enjoy a more relaxed mid-visit break.
  • Bring a camera with a zoom if possible: Many habitats are beautifully landscaped, and a zoom lens or good phone zoom helps capture animals naturally without needing to crowd viewing points.
  • Stay into the late afternoon in summer: On hotter days, some animals become more active once temperatures ease, and the softer evening light also makes the park especially atmospheric for photos.

Frequently asked questions about Bioparc Fuengirola tickets

While the park does sell tickets on-site, ticket queues can be rather long, especially during the peak season from June to August. As a result, you'll end up spending at least 30 minutes waiting in line. Booking tickets online saves you precious time that you can spend exploring the different habitats inside the park.
